Crowdfunding is a way to raise money from a large number of people who pool small individual investments to provide the capital needed to start a company or project. On the other side are individuals, charities or companies who share their ideas for new business or causes in which everyone can contribute.

The Romanian-based investment platform SeedBlink bases its model on crowdfunding, but with specifics that provide additional opportunities for asset management and diversification of the investment portfolio. It is gaining more and more popularity in Bulgaria, uniting investors from all over Europe who want to invest their money in technology start-ups with the opportunity for rapid growth.

Bulgarian companies seeking funding can apply with their project through the SeedBlink platform, with each request going through a structured approval process before being shown to the investor community.

On the other hand, anyone can get involved in raising capital, as they have control over exactly where their investment money goes. Individuals and angel investors seeking access to this otherwise limited asset class could invest in start-ups after registering at SeedBlink and join current rounds of fundraising.

Angel Hadjiev, CEO of SeedBlink for Bulgaria, says the platform does not seek to compete with venture capital funds, nor does it offer "quick enrichment" to investors because investing in startups suggests a return in a few years. According to Hadjiev, nearly 11,000 people have already registered as investors in SeedBlink since the company's founding a little over two years ago.
