Greece is home to a growing network of angel investors, angel funds, and syndicates that play an important role in supporting early-stage startups, particularly in the tech and innovation sectors. These initiatives combine the capital local startups need with mentorship, industry experience, and global connections, helping to bridge the funding gap for startups in their earliest phases.
In this article, you’ll find a detailed overview of the most active angel networks in Greece, what types of founders and sectors they support, how they operate, and what to know before getting involved.
Business Angels Network Greece was founded in 2014 under the auspices of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and serves as the official voice of Greek angel investors at the government and EU levels. It collaborates with Brussels, EBAN, and national bodies to promote the growth of angel investing and integrate the Greek ecosystem with European-wide initiatives.
The network provides structured investor support through regular networking meetings, workshops, newsletters, and its Center for Studies and Research.
Blossom Syndicate is Greece’s first female-led angel syndicate, founded in early 2024 by Maria Koletsou, with a mission to close the gender funding gap. Recognising that fewer than 2% of VC funds reach female-founded companies, Blossom provides a structured platform where women investors unite to back high-potential, female-led startups across various sectors, including health tech, biotech, and fintech. The syndicate offers curated global deal flow, group-led investments, mentorship opportunities, and an expanding network of advisors and members, fostering a vibrant community where women can lead, invest, and inspire change.
To date, Blossom Syndicate proudly counts 65 accomplished members and has completed eight investments in female-led ventures, spanning multiple stages, verticals, and geographies. Through these efforts, the syndicate has deployed €1.5 million, fuelling innovation and growth for women entrepreneurs. More than just an investment group, Blossom is a movement dedicated to empowering women investors and championing female entrepreneurship in Greece and beyond.
"As the co-founder of Nannuka, I’ve experienced firsthand the challenges women, especially mothers, face in securing funding for their companies. That’s why Blossom Ventures’ mission to support female entrepreneurs resonates so strongly with me. Having navigated these obstacles, I’m passionate about helping other women gain the funding they need to succeed. At Blossom, I aim not only to provide capital but to offer insights and support to help female-led startups tackle early challenges and grow. Being part of this network allows me to create a more inclusive investment environment where diversity truly drives innovation," Lela Dritsa, Co-Founder of Nannuka.
Genesis Ventures is a €25M angel co-investment fund launched in 2020–2021 in Athens, funded by the European Investment Fund (EIF) with €20M and €5M from 45 LPs who are angels from all over the world, earmarked for early-stage investments with a sector agnostic thesis. It operates by co-investing alongside angels and targeting pre-seed to seed-stage startups with tickets ranging from €100K–400K, including follow-on investments.
Beyond capital, Genesis offers an acceleration program called DayOne, one-on-one coaching in areas such as market strategy, tech leadership, fundraising, and introductions to institutional VCs and corporate partners. The fund has built a vibrant community of over 160 angel investors from around the world and 110 founders from nearly 50 investments to date. We aim to fund over 60 early-stage tech companies in Greece and globally.
“It's been an amazing 3.5 year journey. The numbers speak for themselves, which includes many Seed and Series A follow-on investments in the €30M+ range. Especially for the support our angel community is providing to founders that go beyond a cheque: mentoring and opening up doors to sales opportunities,” Stergios Anastasiadis, Partner at Genesis Ventures
HeBAN is a non-profit network of angel investors established to address the lack of early-stage funding and expertise for Greek startups. The organization began operating informally in 2012 and was officially incorporated in 2015, positioning itself as Greece’s representative in pan-European networks, such as EBAN and GBAN.
HeBAN’s approach is rooted in five core values: Founder-First, placing entrepreneurs at the center of every investment decision; Trust Over Transactions, focusing on long-term relationships over short-term deals; and Real-World Experience, leveraging the deep operational and industry knowledge of its members. The network also promotes Collaborative Growth, fostering a supportive investor community, and maintains a Global Outlook with Greek Roots, championing Greek innovation while staying globally connected.
Theti CLUB is Greece’s premier tech investor network, dedicated to fueling the country’s technology ecosystem by investing not only capital but also expertise in promising startups. In less than 2.5 years, Theti Club has grown to 140 members, including business angels, family offices, and corporate investors. Its members are a carefully curated group of high-caliber tech entrepreneurs and senior executives, each bringing deep business experience and a shared passion for innovation, something far from guaranteed in a Balkan country like Greece. The return of talented Greeks from abroad has further strengthened the Club’s firepower and spurred a wave of fresh ideas.
“It’s incredible what has happened since we launched Theti Club just 2.5 years ago. The Club has arguably become the largest tech investor network in Southeast Europe, having already supported 16 startups with € 2.5M in net investments. With the vision <<To be a Centre of Influence and Co-Creation that will position Greece as a global innovation hub>>, we aspire to see our country prosper!''
