On a December evening filled with anticipation and entrepreneurial spirit, the SeedBlink team attended the launch of a resourceful documentary, "Romanian Startups – Roaring Tigers of Europe." The feature-length film, a first of its kind, meticulously chronicles the rise of the Romanian startup ecosystem, a journey from the early days of capitalism to its current thriving status.

The documentary is masterminded by Romania's leading startup-focused media outlet, start-up.ro, captures the essence of an ecosystem pulsating with innovation and resilience. "You can't put the passion in an excel. This project is a passion fruit," remarked Vlad Andriescu, editor-in-chief of start-up.ro, encapsulating the spirit that drives Romanian entrepreneurs.

The narrative unfolds with a keen focus on the evolution of the ecosystem, spotlighting key moments and figures from the 1990s to the present. Directed and edited by Florin Cașotă of Videocorp, and produced by Vlad Andriescu, the film offers a vivid portrayal of the milestones and challenges faced by pioneers and present-day innovators in the Romanian startup landscape.

An insightful journey through time

The film's narrative traverses through the fall of communism in 1989, exploring the early tech and IT ventures initiated by former teachers and engineers. It's not just a retrospective but a dynamic exploration of the ecosystem's evolution, highlighting the journey to the present and prospects for the future. Featuring over 60 interviews with key players like Radu Georgescu and Marius Ghenea, the documentary offers an unparalleled glimpse into the Romanian startup scene.
