Europees paspoort geeft Nederlandse Symbid-beleggers toegang tot tech startups via SeedBlink
Met SeedBlink kunnen Symbid-beleggers veilig over de grens investeren in startups.
- De Autoriteit Financiële Markten (AFM) erkent het Europese paspoort van investeringsplatform SeedBlink voor Nederland.
- De erkenning vloeit voor uit de Europese ECSPR-vergunning voor SeedBlink, het Europese co-investeringsplatform voor tech startups.
- De European Crowdfunding Services Providers Regulation (ECSPR) beschermt beleggers onder meer met regels voor externe controle en verplichte openbaarmakingen.
Boekarest, 28 november 2022 – De Europese licentie is een belangrijke stap in de groeistrategie van SeedBlink, dat onlangs het Nederlandse Symbid overnam. De Nederlandse investeerders van Symbid krijgen via het SeedBlink-platform toegang tot een kant-en-klaar Europees investeringsnetwerk, met een focus op tech startups. "Wij zijn de eerste partij in Nederland die een dergelijke toegang biedt voor particuliere investeerders", stelt Robbin Hoogstraten, Nederlands Manager van SeedBlink/Symbid.
De Europese Unie is de grootste interne markt ter wereld, met 450 miljoen consumenten en meer dan 20 miljoen bedrijven. Europa heeft echter moeite om wereldwijd te concurreren op het gebied van technologie. Intellectueel eigendom verhuist naar het buitenland omdat er in de VS en Azië meer kapitaal beschikbaar is, zodat startende technologiebedrijven daar sneller kapitaal kunnen aantrekken.
De ECSPR-verordening creëert gemeenschappelijke regels voor crowdfunding en één licentie voor de Europese Unie, waardoor crowdfundingplatforms in heel Europa kapitaal kunnen ophalen ten behoeve van Europese bedrijven. De verordening zorgt ook voor bescherming van particuliere beleggers. Een investeringsplatform met een vergunning moet aan verschillende voorwaarden voldoen. Een daarvan is het Key Investment Information Sheet (KIIS) dat elke startup voor elk crowdfundingaanbod moet opstellen. Het moet de risico’s en kosten van een investering in kaart brengen, de rechten van investeerders beschrijven en andere relevante informatie verstrekken.
Particuliere investeerders worden zo nog beter beschermd en dat is een goede zaak, stelt Robbin Hoogstraten, Nederland Manager van SeedBlink/Symbid. Voor SeedBlink past de licentie in een Europese groeistrategie, om lokale investeerders toegang te geven tot een interessante Europese groeimarkt. Robbin Hoogstraten: "We zijn nu echt voorgesorteerd om de Europese markt van tech startups en scaleups te ontsluiten voor Nederlandse private investeerders. Met een groeiend aantal kantoren, waaronder in Athene, Sofia, Boekarest en Rotterdam, heeft SeedBlink een sterk Europees netwerk om de beste bedrijven te spotten. Via het platform kunnen Nederlandse particulieren hierin investeren, samen met gerenommeerde durfkapitaalinvesteerders."
Met SeedBlink beleggen investeerders veilig over de grens in startups
SeedBlink, het Europese co-investeringsplatform, is opgericht in Roemenië en heeft zich snel gevestigd in andere landen zoals Bulgarije, Griekenland en, meer recentelijk, in Nederland, en wil binnenkort ook uitbreiden naar andere Europese landen. Het platform heeft meer dan 63.000 individuele investeerders uit 73 landen aangetrokken en heeft een portefeuille van 255 gefinancierde Europese bedrijven. Het platform heeft inmiddels meer dan 150 miljoen euro aan startup-investeringen gemobiliseerd.

Gevraagd naar de toekomst, voegt Sebe toe: "SeedBlink stelt investeerders in staat om veilig over de grens te investeren in startups met een Europees DNA, samen met een sterk netwerk van venture capital partners. 2023 is een jaar van uitbreiding en consolidatie voor ons. Onze aanwezigheid in Nederland is essentieel voor onze strategie in West-Europa, aangezien Nederland over een van de best presterende ecosystemen beschikt, het vierde hoogste aantal startups in de EU heeft, en het op een na hoogste aandeel unicorns in de EU."
Onder de ECSPR-licentie mogen aanbieders van crowdfunding ook een secundaire markt opzetten waar beleggers hun investeringen kunnen doorverkopen, via bulletin boards waar kopers en verkopers elkaar kunnen vinden. Zo kunnen investeerders hun aandelen desgewenst verkopen. SeedBlink heeft al stappen ondernomen om die secundaire markt te ontwikkelen om de liquiditeit voor investeerders te verbeteren.
