What is your greatest personal satisfaction since joining our community of startup investors?
The greatest personal satisfaction is to feel that I support the new generation of businesses and contribute to “what's next” for the world we live in. When I see that the startups I've invested in are achieving positive outcomes, bringing innovative products and services to the market, and making their customers' lives easier, I am happy to be among those who have contributed to their support.
How would you describe our community, and to what extent do you feel it generates value for you?
I see the SeedBlink community as a dynamic hub for investors, offering numerous investment opportunities, learning events, and networking activities. I believe it brings significant value by democratizing investments, keeping entry barriers low, offering a high diversity of startups, and simplifying the process. It’s impressive how simple the process is, considering that SeedBlink handles all organizational and legal aspects.
What does investing mean to you?
To me, investing is a lot like gardening. We, as investors, plant some seeds (financial and otherwise). With patience, the right resources at the right time and at the right place, and the care they require, some seeds will grow and yield abundant results.
How would you describe your investor profile?
I currently invest in startups I resonate with, either because of their vision or their team. It's important for me to invest in a sector I believe in (such as ClimateTech) and in a business model that I understand.
When did you start investing in startups, and what does your portfolio look like?
I've been investing for 1 year, and I have 4 startups in my portfolio. All of them have a strong technology component, focusing on areas that enable sustainability and optimize business processes. My investments are primarily in startups based in Romania.
What are the most important aspects for you when evaluating a startup?
For me, the most important aspects are the vision of the startup and evidence of (potential) customers interested in their product or service. I believe that if a business solves a real problem, a pain that someone has, the chances of success are much higher.
Additionally, the team's experience is also important to me—not just in terms of business expertise, but in aspects that show the team members are capable and passionate about what they are building.
How much and in what way do you choose to get involved in the evolution of a startup after investment?
I get involved where I believe I can genuinely help, perhaps with a connection from my network or feedback based on something I've noticed. Once I've made the decision to invest, I trust the team to do what's best for the business.
Do you have any advice for an early-stage startup investor?
I have more insight than advice - investments in startups are not just for the wealthiest people in the world. For a long time, I had the belief that investing in a startup was for those in the “millionaire's club”, especially men. However, I was happy to see in the SeedBlink community people like me, both women and men of all ages, who want to plant seeds and have the patience and confidence that they will yield results.
